Inaugurated some days ago to London, this fleeting structure of drinks and of metal decorates l’entrée principal of the Victoria & Albert Museum. Sponsored by the American Hardwood Exports Council (AHEC), she was conceived by l’architecte Amanda Levete in collaboration with the engineers d’ARUP. S’élevant to more than 12 meters of height, the Timber Wave is a structure autoportante composed of fine strips of red oak and of metallic pieces. Complex and aerial, she talks with the current entry of the museum and his facade of rock limestone finely sculptured.

On this project, Amanda Levete precise:

" In terms of conception wanted us to create a strong point of reference that indicates one of the principal places of residence of the Festival. But it was necessary that this structure in drinks is at the ladder of the majestic current entry and that his complexity reflects the wealth of the details of the neogothic entry. The museum V&A has a long tradition of educational speech and the drawing of the structure puts well in evidence how the forces play together. On the other hand the asymmetry of the structure drinks comes to contrast with the definite aspect of the current entry "
