Description

The bench SOFTER THAN STEEL / 687 is part of the collection "Softer Than Steel" created by the studio Nendo for Desalto Italian publisher. Japanese designer Oki Sato has designed steel pieces that fold as single sheets of paper. This series welcomes three benches, chairs, small tables, a coat rack and finally the wall shelves.

True to the spirit of the collection, simple, refined and poetic, the bench SOFTER THAN STEEL / 687 is made of matt white lacquered metal with steel tubes for the feet.

By understanding the metal as a single sheet of paper, Nendo gives the material softness and lightness. This approach brings more functionality to objects, as this wave that lifts the seat and turns into a folder, or the underside of wall shelves that form plateaus. "Softer Than Steel" is a refined collection is a continuation of the work of Oki Sato, simple, elegant and poetic.
