17.01.20 Meeting with: Cutwork

Since its creation in 2016, the Cutwork architecture and design studio has offered flexible and functional solutions adapted to the reality of our contemporary lifestyles. On the occasion of the launch of their social project Cortex Shelter - a prototype of sustainable shelter for refugees -, the editorial staff of Muuuz met the two founders of the start-up: the Franco-Japanese architect Antonin Yuji Maeno and the American entrepreneur Kelsea Crawford.

09.01.20 Chartier Dalix: University of Law-Paris I

In Paris, the trend is towards the renovation of disused military sites. While the Anyoji Beltrando agency is converting the Reuilly barracks (12th arrondissement) into housing, the Chartier Dalix teams are rehabilitating the Lourcine barracks (13th arrondissement) into an annex to the Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne law faculty. An ambitious restructuring that guarantees the conversation of the historic heritage and its adaptation to the current socio-economic challenges of the city.

“The Chemin des Carrières, the career path, is a lace undulating in the landscape, an invitation to travel as our ambition behind the reconquest of the Rosheim-St Nabor railway in Alsace, France. It is in these words that the architects of the firm Reiulf Ramstad Arkitekter describe the Chemin des Carrières, an 11-kilometer poetic route that brings nature back to the center of the built landscape.

While the Center Pompidou-Metz (57) is celebrating until January 27 the meeting between the visual arts and the lyrical genre in the exhibition “Opera World, the quest for total art”, the editorial staff of Muuuz returns to the most beautiful scenographies of operas signed by big names in contemporary art. 08.01.20 TMPL: A minimalist design

In the tradition of the American artist and theorist Donald Judd, the British design studio TMPL designs pieces of furniture with a formal style. Geometric and monochrome volumes that recall the aesthetic precepts of American minimalism.

06.01.20 Chak Kit: Hong Kong

Rather than capturing realistic images of Hong Kong, the young photographer Chak Kit immortalizes the magnetic energy of the Chinese megalopolis in purified snapshots on the border of abstraction. Become famous thanks to social networks, he poses a look of esthete on the urban landscape of Hong Kong and shares his colorful visions of the city on Instagram.

10.01.20 Sejkko: Lonely Houses

Discovered on Instagram under the pseudonym Sejkko (@sejkko), the Portuguese photographer Manuel Pita immortalizes the isolated houses he meets during his wanderings in Europe, from his country of origin to Croatia via Turkey. Sometimes renovated, sometimes dilapidated, these small colorful houses evoke both the solitude of everyone and the nostalgic memory of the Home, Sweet Home of his childhood.

07.01.20 Agence Chabanne: La Patinoire Michel Raffoux

After the ice rinks of Louviers (27) and Angers (49), the architecture and engineering agency Chabanne is building a contemporary ice rink for the Urban Community of Dunkirk (CUD). Located between land and sea in an old industrial port site called Môle 1, the Michel Raffoux ice rink is helping to revive this historic site. Faced with such an urban context, the Chabanne agency teams created sports equipment that is open to the outside.

A stone's throw from the Place des Ternes (17th arrondissement) hides a small boudoir where all gourmets are already flocking in search of sweet gifts for the holiday season. For its 6th Parisian address, Maison Damyel calls on interior designer and gallery owner Jessica Barouch and designer Francesco Balzano who imagine a very soft setting, where the traditional “too much” of chocolate factories gives way to purity.
