In the heart of the capital, in the Marais, the architects of Rotunno Justman have transformed a former 90 square meter commercial space into a refined workspace.
The Franco-Italian agency Rotunno Justman was born in 2018 from the meeting between two architects, Maria-Giulia Rotunno and Ary Justman. Passionate about Japanese culture, the two partners, who cut their teeth with Shigeru Ban Europe and Sou Fujimoto Paris, today defend a social and ecological architecture, and develop a conceptual approach, through various projects. Their latest achievement is a good illustration of their demanding approach and their minimalist aesthetic.
In the “create differently” rehabilitation project, Maria-Giulia Rotunno and Ary Justman combine architectural elements from the past with daring, very contemporary pieces. “We tried to rediscover the nobility of the place by restoring the materials to their initial essence: terrazzo, stone wall. », Explains the duo. The architects improved the spatial qualities of the old room so that each workspace is dedicated to an activity. They replaced the doors and some partitions with opaque or transparent PVC strip curtains to allow light to circulate. The different spaces can thus be compartmentalized, without being compartmentalized.
A place as welcoming as it is functional.
