Mini-mall

In Japan, the architect Akihisa Hirata takes advantage of the interstitial spaces of the urban Tokyo and there develops a pocket mall. An original and innovative typology.

Sarugaku an open air mini-mall built right in the heart of Tokyo. In the trendy and upmarket district of Daikanyama, on a parcel of only 538 square meters, the young architect Akihisa Hirata has erected 6 small buildings hosting 10 shops.

The shops thus leave the main arteries to invest alleys and back yards, passages are born between the stalls. The commercial space is more intimate, more secret, more exclusive and luxurious.
