Cross Street par Paul Archer

In London, the architect Paul Archer performs the renovation of a house in the district of Islington. Digging the garden and opening the back cover he created a vacuum and draws a house under the house.

In this project, the architect retains the existing facade except for the back wall that disappears, replaced by large windows on 2 levels. In place of the garden appears therefore a sunken terrace lined with planted walls and crossed by a volume of glass and steel. A voltage volume containing cooking, spanning the empty such a bridge. The kitchen opens to the living room on the ground floor while the space of the rooms deploys the lower level.
