Le Japon vu par Iwan Baan

The architectural photographer Iwan Baan sign a series of photographs illustrating the last book of the architectural firm SANAA. A look at urban life, ways of living and architecture in Japan.

"The SANAA Studios 2006-2008 Learning From Japan - Single Story Urbanism" published by Lars Muller Publishers puts SANAA's projects in the social and urban context of Japan. Analyzes, essays, documents, projects but also photographs. Iwan Baan thus observes the way so are inhabited and used the houses Moriyama imagined by the agency SANAA. More generally, it gives us snapshots of everyday life and urban Japanese. Private sphere, public sphere, spaces in between, between the street and the intimately inhabited space, games of depth, thickness, transition between the light of the street and the shadow marking the symbolic border between public and private, as Junichiro Tanizaki emphasized it in his "Praise of the Shadow".

To discover all the photos, it is on the site of Iwan Baan.
