Singular, university residence "A'Docks" Le Havre was designed from old container shipping by Atelier Cattani Architects. To foster community life and facilitate interaction between them, residents have appealed to the designer Ionna Vautrin to design "Houseboat", a place apart which is housed in a container and inspired by the maritime world and the industrial landscape surrounding.
In the extension of the container, a large blue awning protects and defines a furnished terrace with two large tables and benches. Imagined the image of a boat deck, the floor of the terrace guide the flow of visitors to the inside of the container with soft lines and furnished by designer. Inside, the vaulted ceiling breaks the rigor of the original container and participates in the evocation of a cabin nestled in the hull of a boat. The back room is furnished with a table that occupies all the space and sees lined with benches, a new evocation of a boat square and an invitation to sharing and conviviality.
