Scale Architecture : Cut-away Roof House

The project Cut-away Roof House is the extension of a house in the suburbs of Sydney. It is part of an urban landscape marked by suburban roofs covered with clay tiles. The architecture of the house, designed by Scale Architecture, draws, while reinterpreting them, the formal principles of its neighbors.

The house roof takes up the idea of ​​a roof with two slopes, while accentuating the degrees of inclination of its sides. A first volume is established, which then comes to be hollowed out in part by the creation of a patio. Creating an external cooler, it also allows generously open with a plan C the new parts of the house with large windows.

day of the pieces are placed on the ground floor of the extension, they organize free plane around the patio. It provides a limited role while transparency between kitchen and living room. Spaces volumes also differ, double height was chosen for the show. Work on the master volume, and the remodeling of the ridge roof also causes volumetric games visible inside. The ridges also read in the rooms added to the floor of the extension. Architects by a simple geometric average have created various spatialities around a unique architectural identity.
