LAH/AT : Chai du Château Les Carmes Haut-Brion

Within the area of the Carmelites Château Haut-Brion, Bordeaux vineyards, Luc Arsène Henry and Philippe Starck have come to the conclusion that we should not "architecture" for the Chai du Château. They therefore designed a form consisting of four superimposed levels to regressive surfaces.

Of this composition results in an oblique flanks and of the ends and the use of linear two main components: the copper and the cellar. Then draws a sharp blade gushing over water, in the bed of Peugue, historic river at birth from the port of Bordeaux, constituting a reminder as to whether it is by boat Bordeaux wine conquered its worldwide reputation.
This singular design had several advantages; First of all hangovers enjoy a walk-in, plunging the barrel cellar and the prestigious cellar under the water level with the hygrothermal benefits that result, but also to raise to a level through a large teak terrace, under the shade of the grove fully preserved, thus benefiting from the same view.

The materials used are extremely limited in number. All components are left bare and selected primarily for their functional evidence. The cladding is then carried Alucobond, separated by an empty fifteen centimeters of air from the concrete wall having the role of heat shield stack by the air flow removing toxic gases, mirror surrounding vegetation and variations of mineral colors recalling the field from which it sprang.
