Urban Agency : Faaborg Harbour Bath

In order to upgrade its seafront, the city of Faaborg (Denmark) uses the Danish architectural agency Urban Agency, which carries out the Faaborg Harbor Bath, a multifunctional space for understanding the marine environment in a variety of ways.

On 2 000 square meters, the Faaborg Harbor Bath brings together and entertains the locals. Realized on what the designers call a "finger plan" - a plan in the form of a finger - the whole consists of a reception area divided into three pontoons advancing on the sea.

In each space its specificity: in the west, two basins; in the center, two mounds from which it is possible to climb and admire the view of the Great Belt; and to the east, a platform where different aquatic activities are proposed, from simple swimming to canoeing.

The choice of materials echoes those used in the boating environment: the oak laths of the piers, but also the steel elements used for deck fitting. The shape of the reception area resumes the curves of pleasure boats, thus gently integrating the project into the maritime environment in which it takes place.

A realization that serves as a revival in a small Danish community, allowing its inhabitants to become aware of the exceptional site in which they live.
