JAJA Architects : Park 'N' Play

In order to accompany the urban transformation of its port, the city of Copenhagen (Denmark) called on the Danish JAJA Architects Park 'N' Play, an atypical parking building topped by a recreational and living public space.

Located in the industrial district of Nordhavnen, north of Copenhagen, this eight-storey, 485-sized garage features a lively stainless steel façade, the rust-colored appearance of which resembles local brick constructions and contrasts with the green of the buildings. climbing plants installed in front, in planters in length.

At the top, there is a playground of 130 square meters, accessible by two large external staircases located on either side of the building whose walls they open. On this large rooftop terrace, winding metal railings are also part of the fun and sports facilities.
From the street, the two exterior circulations inspired by the Center Pompidou in Paris invite pedestrians to admire the view of the port of Copenhagen, 26 meters above sea level. The ascent is accompanied by a frieze drawn on the cladding by the Danish agency Rama Studio, representative of old local figures.

This project illustrates the city's desire to provide its residents with entertainment spaces while offering mixed-use buildings to an emerging neighborhood. Besides its parking function, it aspires to become the center of everyday life for the inhabitants of the neighborhood.
