Ateliers 2/3/4 : Parc des Chaussons

On the former industrial wasteland of Chaussons à Gennevilliers (92), the 2 / 3 Ateliers 4 architecture and landscaping agency designs the Parc des Chaussons, in the heart of the Chandon-République eco-district. With its sinuous pavement splintered, the garden with an area of 6 500 square meters, offers its inhabitants a place conducive to fun and walking.

Known in the 1960 years for their automobile production, Chaussons factories, located south of Gennevilliers, were abandoned following economic difficulties of the company, then destroyed in 2008 because too old. Since then, the Municipality has decided to conduct on the seven hectares of available land a ZAC project whose design of the master plan, the garden and a school was entrusted to the agency of architecture and landscape Workshops 2 / 3 / 4, formerly Faubourg 2 / 3 / 4.

The Chandon-Republic ZAC comprises almost 100 000 square meters (SHON) of housing divided into ten open orthogonal islets, within which there are common gardens. The Chaussons Park, with an area of 6 500 square meters, is positioned at the eastern corner of the largest parcel of the complex, bordered on the south by six to eight storey buildings and to the west by a group of buildings in tiers of five to six levels. It has two main entrances placed at the two ends of an east-west diagonal, in the extension of an artery planted in the Agnettes district built in the 1960 years: the 8 May 1945 street, which connects it to the agglomeration .

Arriving from the city center, the visitor follows this axis dividing the project into two parts; his journey begins here. He begins his crossing by an educational garden of 700 square meters where are identified the different types of plants present. This central lane then creates two distinct zones: in the south-east, a collaborative space of 600 square meters including a dozen vegetable gardens and shared outdoor kitchens managed by the local association of Chaussons Verts; and 900's square-foot playground, whose rubber floor features colorful, rippling designs. To the north-west, sinuous strolls symbolized by giant Japanese steps, consisting of off-set gray concrete slabs, wind between rare plant species of Île-de-France chosen by landscape painters, such as chervil or gnarled torilis. These pathways form a fun and relaxing journey for the inhabitants.

A pleasant and friendly park that reconciles with brilliant common life and solitary relaxation.
