NZI ARCHITECTES : 26 Logements participatifs

In Montreuil (93), the agency NZI ARCHITECTES delivers a project for the least experimental composed of 26 participative housing designed with and for its future inhabitants. An achievement whose durability is a challenge, but which has the merit of constituting a real human adventure.

If designing a bespoke house with its clients is sometimes a challenge for an architect, building a building of 26 participatory housing in a single operation is a different story ... Masters of this project in Montreuil, Sandra de Gorgio and Gianluca Gaudenzi from NZI ARCHITECTES are well placed to talk about it: "From the immersion in this adventure, we have been immersed in a situation of proximity with users. Which, in practice, is paradoxically not always the case. In fact, we have become the guarantors of the realization of the dream of 26 homes. And it was out of the question to disappoint them! "

Supported by the developer, the designers listened and worked with future tenants to understand their expectations. Among the more recurrent demands during the discussions, the need to be in constant contact with nature and the desire to live together. Once these specifications were identified, architects and users were able to draw the future housing hand in hand.

Concretely, these are divided into two buildings, one overlooking the street, the other located at the bottom of the plot. If the two bodies do not exceed three levels, the first consists of several houses, while the second is equipped with a flat roof and green. Between the two, a landscaped island serves as a place of circulation and participates in the conviviality, since the apartments in ground garden are opened on this space without hedge or barrier. Finally, the corridors distributing the accesses to the housing go well beyond the 180 regulatory centimeters to offer to the users still other places of exchange and appropriation.

A beautiful way of living together, whose architects are well aware of the fragility. In this regard, Sandra de Gorgio and Gianluca Gaudenzi conclude: "Time will tell if this type of habitat is destined to continue". We can only hope for it.
