ODILE + GUZY architectes : 26 logements sociaux

Delivered in 2017 in Chalon-sur-Saône this social housing project shows the real concern of architects Michaël Guzy and Julien Odile to offer an optimal living comfort to future users. The proof ? They won the competition by taking the opposite of the specifications provided, determined to propose the most adapted to the needs of the occupants.

At the origin of these residences in Chalon-sur-Saône (71), an enclave, rectangular and narrow at street level, on which the OPAC Saône-et-Loire wanted to build two buildings sheltering in all 20 housing collective and intermediate 6. At least, that's what the organization wanted from the grassroots. For by answering the contest launched in 2011, the architects analyze, weigh, examine the site and quickly understand that "The typology chosen was unsuited to the context, not allowing a good structuring of the space on the ground". So they finally win the tender by proposing to build 20 intermediate housing accompanied by 6 individual houses. A change of program for the least welcome.

Delivered in 2017, the project gives pride of place to small volumes, more in line with the surrounding urban fabric than large buildings, while offering a quality of life to the inhabitants. In wood structure, it is divided into two different types of buildings, themselves divided into several separate units: three modules housing the apartments - from the T2 to the T3 - and terraced houses, interconnected by their side façades and all extended by a small garden. A strong bias, allowing designers to spare many voids, extended by the footbridges and external stairs multiplying the spaces of conviviality and giving all the appearance of village. And as the well-being in community also passes by the respect of the environment, the realization respects the objectives of the label BBC Effinergie. The sign that, sometimes, architects can rightly deflect requests made to them!
