Hérault Arnod architectes : Cité Internationale Paul Ricoeur

At the heart of the Breton capital, Grenoble Hérault Arnod Architects agency deliver the Cité Internationale Paul Ricoeur. Focus on a building over 7 000 square meters housing four separate programs in a harmonious setting.

Rennes, here Rennes. For many years, the Breton metropolis is in turmoil: with the opening of the LGV (high-speed line) the city is now only 1h25 of Paris. To accommodate this large-scale project, the aging railway station is going to find its clothes of light. Not far from there: the district of Colombier, typical of the 1970 years, its bars and its towers. The area marked by minerality has also experienced a vast policy of urban renewal recently, including the construction of the Champ-Libres museum by Christian de Portzamparc in 2006 and the renovation of the adjacent Place Charles de Gaulle and the Concert Hall of Liberty dating from the 1960 years. It is in this context that the Cité internationale Paul Ricoeur is registered.

The agency Hérault Arnod Architects had to link this large building to an urban environment with a renewed identity in the south, but also to a more traditional neighborhood in the north. A second problem was to assemble under a unit envelope four different programs: a sports center, premises for the University of Brittany-Loire, a residence for foreign researchers and a university restaurant. Challenge, which the architects swept away with a hand.

To do this, public assignments are combined in a base while length aligned with the street and covered with a double skin of glass and aluminum slats. The north side, arranged along the Freedom Boulevard, is covered with white glass slides sometimes fixed and sometimes moving, behind which there is a winter garden open to the city with vines and ferns. This elongated cuboid is capped is part of a volume of housing six floors positioned cantilever above a large terrace. All these residential units have kitchen, bathroom and storage space and a large window overlooking a balcony hedgehog.

This unified set delivered in 2016 by Arnod Hérault agency fits remarkably well in full metamorphosis neighborhood in which it operates.
