TETRARC : Parking-Jardin

With the public space of the municipality of Vitré (35) as a playground, the agency TETRARC realizes a mixed set including footbridges, outdoor parking, underground and landscaping. A complex program paying tribute to the sinuous course of the Vilaine, facilitating also the exchanges between the railway and the city center.

With its central location - very close to the castle - and the development of the TERs animating the Breton commune, the station had to adapt to the new territorial and strategic stakes which motivated its realization.

Under the leadership of the Nantes agency TETRARC, this multimodal hub takes on a whole new dimension. Between the creation of an aerial walk over the rails, projecting pedestrian walkways connected to various key sites of the municipality - such as Place de la Victoire or rue Pierre Lemaître - two new parking places - the one of four levels, semi-buried in step and covered with vegetation, accommodating up to 620 vehicles; the other outside, containing 16 places -, the obsolete aspect of the station is now only a distant memory!

This achievement reinterprets the codes of the ancient fortified city. The use of wood is reminiscent of the one used for the half-timbered houses, the cages of elevators serving the quays echo the roofs of the cottages because of their shape and their wooden cladding, while the layout of the footbridge overhanging the catenaries and one of the two car parks evokes the meanders of the Vilaine.

More than just a place of traffic, the air bridge allows travelers, by taking the height, to rediscover the historic buildings of Vitré and to fantasize about the medieval past of the area.

A complex realization that offers this previously unpopulated area, a place of choice in the territory of Vitré.
