Hardel et Le Bihan Architectes : Résidence hôtelière Odalys City

As part of the reconstruction of the ZAC Porte Pouchet in Paris (17e), the agency Hardel and Le Bihan Architects book a few steps from the Paris ring road, the residence Odalys City. Built in corrugated iron, the simple-looking building actually contains inventive methods aimed at counteracting the noise pollution produced by the expressway.

Carried by the planners of the French agencies TVK and Michel Guthmann, the ZAC of the Porte Pouchet, with an area of 15 hectares, is part of the will of the City of Paris to redevelop the Parisian doors. Located between the ring road and boulevard Bessières, the piece of town was originally made up mainly of three buildings of the 1970 years in poor condition - the tower of Bois-le-Prêtre, and the Tower and Barre Borel - and many car workshops and abandoned parks.

Following extensive demolition work throughout the area, the Borel Housing Bar, to the east, has been preserved and rehabilitated. It is in the west of the plot, facing the future Pouchet square and the fast track, that the agency Hardel and Le Bihan for its part imagined the hotel residence Odalys City.

The specifications of the real estate builder Groupe Duval, was clear: it was imperative to respect the visual comfort and privacy of neighboring homes. For this, the architects designed a building in L, enclosing the Bar Borel 10 floors keeping a distance of 4 meters between the two structures between which takes place a new garden. The development is on the ground floor of shops, 148 rooms in the 5 upper levels and a fully glazed breakfast room on the sixth and last level, offering travelers an incredible view of the Capital.

Thanks to the cladding of the 2 anodized aluminum sheet-plate facade, the undulation of which - made up of four modules - has been the subject of complex calculations by the project engineers, the sound of vehicles is diffracted, thus reducing the noise disturbances that can be perceived by the residents of the block.

An achievement whose facade will mark the identity of a neighborhood in (re) become, and which breathes a wind of contemporaneity on a Parisian device unappealing.
