Ingenhoven architects et Gustafson Porter + Bowman : Marina One

In the middle of four impressive rolling towers, an incredible urban park, designed by the international agency Ingenhoven architects and the British landscape studio Gustafson Porter + Bowman, comes to life in the business district of Marina Bay in Singapore (Singapore). A crazy new project for a city at the forefront of innovation.

The four-handed project is a continuation of the URA - Urban Redevelopment Authority's - of the city-state of Singapore, whose stated goal is to mix urban, architectural and landscape politics, in a city that is the greenest possible.

On a square island of 180 meters side, the realization consists of four towers of concrete and glass: two of 30 offices floors, arranged at the south and east corners; and two slightly taller ones hosting 1 042 apartments and 3 000 duplexes to the north and west. These excrescences are connected by a common base of 11 levels with terraces planted undulating around a park. They represent a shield protecting this haven of greenery from outside the heavily built business district.

The garden, hosting a lush flora, is also equipped with a winding ramp on stilts linking different areas of traffic and to offer walkers many views of the buildings.

A sculptural achievement in the image of the megalopolis of Singapore, colossal, always pushing a little more the limits of architecture.
