AIM Architecture et URBAN MATTERS : Urban Bloom

To briefly escape the stifling atmosphere of the city without having to leave it? This is the challenge that the agencies AIM Architecture and URBAN MATTERS, which are carrying out in Shanghai (China) Urban Bloom, a fairy-tale city garden in which time seems to stop.

What was originally a parking lot 330 square meters is transformed, under the guidance of architects and landscapers in charge of the project, in a green setting arranged amidst areas of concrete. A piece of dreamlike nature installed on a structure composed of stacked pallets on which a multitude of plants flourish. A simple choice that minimizes the cost of production and its impact on the neighborhood. To complete the set, illuminating balloons arranged at the top of poles.

In the heart of a lively neighborhood mixing residences, offices, restaurants, shops and schools, Urban Bloom is designed to appease its inhabitants and encourage their meeting. Its modular character allows everyone to appropriate space according to their desires and needs. Thus, what can be a simple place of relaxation can quickly turn into an outdoor theater, conference site or gathering.

A simple project that proves that few means can be needed to do great things.
