L’AUC : Résidence Jean d'Ormesson

With the desire to dust off the image of university residences by adapting to the desires but also the new needs of residents, the AUC book 296 polytechnic housing for the campus of Paris-Saclay including for the first time types of apartment dedicated at the collocation.

While most of the student residences offer, in addition to the classic one-person studios, accommodations for couples, fewer are those that incorporate several rooms for those who would like to share their home. The project of 296 housing polytechnic of the AUC is actually the first to integrate spaces of collocation for housing under the CROUS!

This novelty was born from a reflection of the designers of the campus and sociologists on the lifestyles of students today who pushed the masters to renew the proposals too little varied residences. Thus, the five floors of the building host 215 studios and 23 collocations available in several typologies of shared apartments and single or double rooms.

And since the conviviality should not be reserved for those who wish to live under the same roof, the AUC also puts forward common spaces, meeting places and sharing that unfold on 500 square meters. Among them, a coworking of 150 square meters and a shared garden that are also open to residents of surrounding residences. Other rooms are only reserved for project tenants, especially on the ground floor where there is a large multipurpose room.

What give faith to future students who would still hesitate between the affordable cost of a university residence and apartment to share with friends!

The project is selected for the ADC Awards 2019 in the category Housing
