Pranlas Descours : Black Diamond

No, the Black Diamond does not mean a pirate ship, but the new project of the agency Pranlas Descours. Established in the district of the banks of the Haute Deûle de Lille (59), the building includes a silo parking 200 places, a gym and office space, all in a setting combining the red stone typical of the Hauts de France to the elegance of a dark mix.

The Rives de la Haute Deûle-Euratechnological district is one of the main urban fabrics under development in the northern metropolis. A post-industrial site where the old manufactures meet new buildings - tertiary, public or residential - in an architectural melting pot whose architects in charge of the project have been able to take advantage. Thus, the Black Diamond takes the vernacular codes of the old buildings of the region, the equipment in moucharabieh, to hide the parking lot while the upper parts of black lacquered metal joinery and largely glazed, closer to the envelopes of tertiary buildings, counterbalance the result, thus conveying a strong mixed identity, both in the aesthetics and in the programs it contains.

The car park is spread over 7 half-levels - two of which are semi-buried - and its accessible walk-in, west. The gym, located on the 3th floor as well as the tertiary pole, 4ème and 5ème levels are accessible by two halls - one to the west, the other to the east -, to the refined layout whose two large plates with marbled patterns to expand the space 2,26 meters high. All of these spaces are organized around a pleasant central patio.

Proof that it is possible to design a current building by drawing inspiration from more distant constructions.

The project is selected for the 2019 ADC Awards in the Mixed category
