Studio Malka : MI-NUIT

In the south of Paris, Mi-Nuit could drag on ... In Ivry (94), the studio Malka realizes a two-headed dwelling unit, which radiates from dawn to dusk without any excess.

The Parisian architecture studio Malka frees itself from classical Parisian architecture through simple but remarkable achievements. The architects are interested in a new form of urbanity, which they manifest in immersive projects, between contemporary art and scenography. A desire to explore the limits of urban-center architecture that does not falter through their new project, Mi-Nuit, and revisits Baroque and minimalist movements. What to train us to the end of the night.
Thus, the iconic zinc and copper roofs of the capital are merged, giving rise to a radical proposal to the bright brass roof. The building consists of two superimposed rectangular blocks - gold on black - and overlooked by a roof terrace, offering an element of symbolic nature, referring to the polar day "midnight sun", in the residential landscape of Ivry. The architects choose fully recyclable and ultra-resistant materials for the copper-zinc alloy of the golden block, resulting from several recycling.

The individual housing of 250 square meters separates the different spaces - distributed on two levels in each of the volumes of the housing -, according to their function .. On the ground floor, the black basement contains the day rooms - living room, dining room dining and kitchen - set in an elongated room with a large roof window bathed in pleasant zenith light. A black concrete staircase, concealed behind a white wall, leads to the upper floor, taking place in the solar crown and reflective of the building which hosts penises and bathrooms. The whole is overlooked by a large roof terrace isolated behind a dark wall.

The studio transforms a traditional street into a piece of singular neighborhood illuminated by an artificial sun, a striking architectural presence.

Day and night, Mi-Nuit never falls asleep ...
