Événement : BAP ! Première édition de la Biennale d’architecture et de paysage

For the first time, the Île-de-France Region is organizing a Biennale of Architecture and Landscape from May 4 to 13 July 2019. It will take place at the Château de Versailles and is thought of as a marriage between nature and architecture. The occasion also to reveal the 7e Prize of the women architects, organized by the ARCHA.

The BAP! will awaken the Palace of Versailles, and will plunge into enthusiasm and optimism for this first edition of a biennale widely expected from May to July.
Headlining is visual artist Eva Jospin, who will draw the emblem of the Biennale, in the form of a perennial work installed in the garden of the Hotel de la Chancellerie. The trunk of the emblematic tree symbolizes the reconnection, the communication recommitted between all the actors: commissioners, elected representatives, citizens, architects, landscapers, town planners, without forgetting the masters of works, and deploys its branches on all the topics during the Biennale. The climate, the challenge of galloping urbanity, the reconciliation between all the actors of the city of tomorrow, are all topics that go through this first edition and which will bring innovative and committed solutions.

On the program, 6 exhibitions in 6 places of the Castle, a horticultural market, debates and conferences, two inaugurations etc ... Enough to hold its visitors on two months full.

The first edition coincides with the opening of the competition for the seventh edition of the Women Architects Prize organized by the Association for Research on the City and Habitat (ARVHA), with the support of the Ministry of Culture and the Pavilion of the Arsenal, as well as the National Council of the Order of Architects and the Regional Council of the Order of Architects of Ile-de-France. A prize that aims to make visible on the very masculine scene of architecture - it is recalled that only one woman was rewarded on 40 prizes awarded for the Pritzker, and one in thirty for the Grand Prix of Architecture - Female models to which women architects and future architects can identify. The price includes 4 categories: the young woman architect award (under 40 years), a prize for the original work, a woman architect award, and an international award. Are you an architect and want to compete? Register here.

During the Biennial, two dates will be devoted to the female architecture. The June 1er, ARVHA Director, Catherine Guyot will present the award as well as its previous winners and two workshops will be offered to the public. The first, led by Véronique Decharrières (laureate 2015) and Amélia Tavella (2016) will be about the City and Nature while the second, proposed by Sophie Berthelier (2017) and Nicole Concordet (2018) will be interested in the relationship between the 'Human and the City. Two other workshops will also be set up on Saturday 8 June: one around Sustainable Development and Architecture, led by Sandri Di Giorgio (2018, Linda Gilardone and Axelle Acchiardo (2018), while the other will question the link between Heritage and Modernity with Véronique Joffre (2016) and Christinae Schmukle-Mollard.
