SCAU : B’Est

The city of Farébersviller (57) is being revitalized by the presence of a center of leisure and major trade signed SCAU. Housing shops, restaurants but also a rope course, a climbing wall or a community garden, the few 55 000 square meters of the complex astonish and tell the adventure of this mall like no other.

Located in Moselle, the commune of Farébersviller is a site left out of the rest of the country. Annexed by Germany twice and hit hard by the closure of coal mines, the city was hitherto plunged into a dismal inertia. A statement that has not escaped Laurent Kleinhentz, mayor of the city who, since 30 years already, sees a bright future emerge for his town.
With the project of erecting a true temple of leisure, it initiates the beginnings of what will become B'Est, a commercial center that acts as a discreet tribute to the region. Commissioned in 2008 at the firm SCAU, especially known for having realized the new Stadium Velodrome of Marseilles (13), the complex long awaited by the inhabitants was finally inaugurated the 11 last April.

Located on the heights of the city, the least we can say is that B'Est does not go unnoticed. Or rather, yes. What is striking is precisely his discretion, far from the ostentatious signs of his colleagues, and his subtle integration into his environment. Here, no flashy colors or cold concrete but an elegant silhouette covered with solid wood slatted blades from the PAREA range of Laudescher. Three colors and finishes alternate - honey, cherry and wengé - thus highlighting the curves of the whole. Their LINEA range covers most of the shopping malls, ensuring continuity between the exterior and the interior.
The horizontal structures include a part of green roofs - 22 000 square meters of which 4 300 are decorated with solar panels - and are part of a large-scale landscaping: on 30 hectares in total, it is not less than 18 hectares which are dedicated to green spaces. Everything resonates like an echo of the many forests of the region, between woods and greenery.

In the area of the advent of online shopping and the questioning of the consumer society, B'Est succeeds in the master trick of reinventing the physical trade model by offering organic products from short circuits in its hypermarket and activities promoting the relationship between man and his environment: tree climbing and climbing walls to gain height on the vast meadow in which the project takes place, cultivation of a kitchen garden or beekeeping.

What offer to the city of Farébersviller the long-awaited momentum!
