Modus Studio : The Evans Tree House

At the foot of the Ouachita Mountains of Arkansas (USA), there is an enchanted forest that is popular with young and old. It is in this forest setting that the Evans Tree House takes place, equipment complementing the adventure garden with elements dedicated to outdoor activities. The wooden cage plays with shadows and lights to hide among the pines and oaks. A mysterious form for an experience worthy of a fantasy novel.

The Evans Tree House nestles in the heart of the canopy of an 85 hectares botanical site (located near the town of Hot Springs, Arkansas), along the Quachita River. Its presence offers Evans adventure garden users an observatory and an interactive, visual and tactile experience in the heart of the woods.

Introduced to the dendrology for the occasion - scientific study of the forest -, the architects and designers of Modus Studio imagine an organic form suspended in the middle of the trees by 6 pairs of 7,6 steel columns meters high. Closest to the clearing, the construction is installed slightly above the ground to preserve the maximum. The structure is mounted on 10 stainless steel ribs by a spine that distributes its wooden fins on either side of the two levels of the platform, until fully enveloped. The southern yellow pine tree, native to Arkansas, and its thermalization treatment - heat and steam - improves the durability of the material. The cage is mounted on a boomerang-shaped plan and lends the structure a grooved skin, open on the treetops. It reveals a play of light and shadows that is projected on the ground inside the frame, and provides breakthroughs on the trees.

The studio goes as far as developing a thin steel mesh cut with water jet which envelops the construction on the East and North faces, reproducing the branches and the trellis of the leaves. The remote view of the forest offers, through these meshes, a sculptural and dynamic experience, which mixes the imagination of children with the benevolent eyes of adults. Two character traits that make the genius of Modus.

A real fairy tale !
