Janez Nguyen Architectes: Extension d’une maison à Vitry

In many cases, living in the Paris region involves a lot of sacrifices. Narrow spaces, quirky rooms and lack of outside are the daily lives of many Parisians. Constraints that did not want to bend the inhabitants of Vitry-sur-Seine (94) who entrusted the extension of their house and the creation of a terrace to the local agency Janez Nguyen Architects. What to breathe a little!

The project consists of the expansion of a house built of millstone in the 1930 years as well as the creation of an outdoor area at the heart of the plot. Located on the footprint of the existing garage, the extension of 40 square meters develops on two levels, retaining the parking on the ground floor and offering a new living space upstairs.

In order to respect the main building, this addition is located slightly back on the street side, enhancing the natural character of the old part of the home. Its vertical cladding is punctuated by the horizontality of the flat roof and the square window upstairs resuming the proportions of the openings already present and appears as a discrete current touch.
Its cladding in natural copper breaks with the omnipresence of the stone of the original house, giving the whole a more contemporary character without detonating with the whole, thanks to a choice of warm color close to the neighborhood architecture.

On the garden side, the extension has a large bay window opening onto a new terrace with metal structure and wooden floor. The railing, also metallic, takes up the coppery color of the construction and leads to a staircase leading to the spacious garden.

The best of both worlds.
