Nada : Barberia 51

Transform a small garage in Valencia (Spain) into a trendy and minimalist barber? Bet accepted for the Iberian agency of design Nada. Inspired by the "à la fresca" establishments that exploit the outside for more conviviality and informality, the studio imagines a hairdresser open on the street whose monochrome will certainly attract all the bearded of the city.

It is nice to walk around the Spanish streets and see the locals invest the pavement to drink their coffee or simply discuss, installed on small benches in the sun! This tradition found in many southern European countries is exploited by Nada, a local design agency that rehabilitates a dilapidated garage into a contemporary 22 square meter facility.

Because who says small surface, says clever arrangement! And to do so, the owners install the "waiting room" on the sidewalk in front of the male hairdresser - materialized by a wooden bench -, giving the project a casual character where customers are led to discuss between they take advantage of the transpyrénéen weather.
The site is bounded on the outside by two flat blue sky squares, similar to small boxes, one framing the front door, the other - wider - bordering the main space reserved for care and visible from the road through a large bay window.

The same search for sobriety is applied to the treatment of the single room. Keeping the brick of yesteryear and the technical elements of the ceiling, the designers simply choose to repaint everything in white, thus enlarging the space with a brushstroke. On the floor, a warm wooden floor dialog with a large countertop in natural pine. A basic styling station consisting only of an adapted armchair, a large rectangular mirror with a rounded upper edge and a locker - also in pine - completes the ensemble.
Thanks to the very wide opening on the outside, the space is bathed in natural light, reinforced by the presence of minimalist tubular neon lights, echoing the manufacturing pace of the place of origin.

A touch of color that allows you to reconnect with a friendly tradition.
