Atelier 9.81 : logements sociaux et médiathèque à Lille

In Lille (59), Atelier 9.81 signs an architectural complex comprising 63 social and intermediate housing, as well as a media library and a business. In rupture with the surrounding urban landscape, the realization redefines respectfully the space in which it is inserted.

In all its architectural and urban projects, Atelier 9.81 develops creative writing through a multidisciplinary approach, from furniture to scenography and construction. With this achievement, he proposes another way of living in the city.

It is in the residential district of Saint-Maurice in the north-east of Lille that this project of magnitude came to settle. A set of 4 860 m2 homes and 440 m2 equipment. On the edge of the square with a subway station, the media library and housing are striking by the contemporaneity of their architectural language. Balconies, roof terraces, split modules, blocks of concrete left bare or painted, and glazed volumes of the facades, have been well imagined in this sense.

The media library is a relay library, an educational space for meetings and exchanges. This public municipal equipment includes a reception room and rooms dedicated to consultation and documentation. Open to all, the media library promotes the transmission of knowledge in an intimate and bright place of life, open to the outside.

A social operation performed brilliantly!
