Coldefy & Associés : Peuple Belge

The French agency Coldefy & Associés Architects Urbanists delivers a mixed complex installed in Old Lille (59). Mostly known for its old red brick houses, the neighborhood now has a bright white building. An achievement whose contemporary writing contrasts with the surrounding urban landscape.

At 14 avenue du Peuple Belge, a complex consisting of fifteen collective dwellings and two restaurants on the ground floor contributes to the architectural renewal and dynamism of Old Lille. This building rises in a historic urban block, a stone's throw from the Hospice Comtesse museum and the Tribunal de Grande Instance. Anchored in a heterogeneous architectural context, the new building structures the corner of rue Saint-Joseph and the avenue by its unique silhouette and its worked materiality.

Immaculate and uncluttered, this white concrete building has a stepped mass. The contemporary vocabulary adapts to the many facets of the project. The large bay windows in the lower part open the restaurants on the street, while on the floors, the writing densifies to provide comfort and privacy to residents while allowing them to enjoy breathtaking views of the city.

The building covers 1 square meters, of which 900 square meters are for accommodation and 1 square meters are for two restaurants: Le Cerisier en Ville and La Griotte, the two new addresses of Michelin-starred chef Éric Delerue.
On the ground floor, the contemporary brasserie La Griotte revisits the neighborhood bistronomy. The restaurant room overlooks an open kitchen and can accommodate up to seventy seats. Contemporary and refined, the decoration - anthracite granite slabs on the floor, solid oak tables, ceramic lamps - shapes the bistro's friendly atmosphere.
Upstairs, nestled in a glass, the gourmet restaurant Le Cerisier en Ville includes large private rooms and a boudoir more confidential, as well as a cigar smoking room and a bar reserved for gourmets the most good of living we.

What to eat down the house.
