Mova : Mille Plateaux

Who has never dreamed of designing their ideal home, one that will be like A to Z? What is a fantasy for many of us, the architects Frédéric Mouly and Manuèle van der Hoeven, from the Mova agency, made it a reality. Located in Montreuil (93), the house respects the vernacular architecture of the district while being inspired by Mediterranean landscapes and construction.

" In short. We are architects and inhabitants of this house. " It is in these words that the couple Frédéric Mouly and Manuèle van der Hoeven summarize their Mille Plateaux project, an accommodation installed on a plot of land in Montreux located between the street and the heart of a green island. The 140 square meter, narrow and steep plot, reserved its share of difficulties, brilliantly circumvented by architects, accustomed to acting in dense urban areas.

To build the house of their dream, the future owners imagine a hexagonal set of only 40 square meters in order to maintain a suitable size of garden and not obstruct the view of the wooded island. A compact project certainly, but which contains a most complete program! A living room, a patio, three bedrooms, two bathrooms and an independent studio, so many rooms that are hidden behind an airtight facade on the street including a variety of materials - white coating, cladding of vertical battens and wood and elements in zinc - acts as a real identity marker in the architectural landscape of the neighborhood.
Inside, it is a real maze that the architects have set up, where double heights and half-levels punctuate the whole. A bias inspired by their many trips to the Amalfi Coast (Italy) and the Greek Islands which allows them to insert all their parts in a construction which is a priori narrow.
Here, concrete is king! A material softens by the great presence of white on the walls, wood on the furniture and greenery, which give the whole a warm and comfortable atmosphere.

We told you: a dream house!
