arba : L’Onde

In Cantal, in the middle of a green and hilly terrain, stands a classic house at first, but which nevertheless conceals its lot of subtleties. Signed arba, L'Onde is a revisited wooden chalet with an unusual roof, inspired by slate roofs with rounded shapes.

Covering an area of 75 square meters, the maisonette designed by arba consists of a partially glazed larch module. A classic ensemble surmounted by a flexible, convex roof on a slope, rising to the south to bathe the interiors with light and lowering to the north to protect the winds from the region.

Inside, the concrete slab is left rough, warmed by the frame and the ubiquity of wood, especially in the use of birch plywood for the finishing work. Here again, the roof is important and the impressive volume under the frame is given to see subtly, allowing in turn to create confidential spaces and others more airy. On the garden level, a single room with plenty of storage space including living room, dining room and kitchen has a staircase leading to a mezzanine where the sleeping areas are housed.

The ideal place to rest, away from the city bustle.
