Floret Arquitectura : Gólgota

In Porto (Portugal), the Floret Arquitectura agency has renovated a historic Caminhos do Romântico house with a contemporary look.

The architects of the Floret Arquitectura agency have completely reinvented an old Portuguese house, which had been left in ruins. Playing with volumes, colors and materials, they have restored the building's letters of nobility while infusing it with a breath of modernity.

Located in the Caminhos do Romântico area, characterized by its old stone houses, large wooded areas and the Douro River in the background, the “Gólgota” project opens onto the outside. The architects renovated the existing building and extended it by constructing an extension in wood and concrete. Spread over two levels and equipped with large windows and bay windows, this contemporary entity offers breathtaking views of the Douro, the garden and the new swimming lane.

On the interior side, the extension accommodates the living spaces, such as the entrance, the kitchen, the living room, while the historic house houses the private spaces, such as the parental bedroom, the children's bedrooms and the living rooms. water. All the rooms have been furnished in a contemporary minimalist spirit, and are warm and functional spaces.

The architects succeeded in the feat of enlarging the living area of the building through an extension while ensuring its integration into the site.
