Lemoal lemoal agency brings new life to the city of Cabourg (14)! The mayor wishing to bring together all his social and cultural services of the municipality on the same site, the architects imagine a set of two buildings organized around a public square. Using materials from the region, the work is halfway between a Norman building and a contemporary building.

Inserted between a maternal and child protection center and a public car park, the plot on which the project takes place is located away from the circulation axes of the seaside municipality. A complex situation for a public building whose architects have seized, opening the complex towards the city center while imagining a place dedicated to be crossed by the inhabitants.

"Rather than twice! Lemoal Lemoal's teams must have thought. Indeed, if the program indicated the construction of a single building to house these services, the masters of works preferred to erect two, L-shaped, surrounding said public square. Reinterpreting the vernacular architecture of the region, the two entities are characterized by terracotta roofs with two sides. And if the Norman house is defined by its half-timberings, the designers keep the regular framework of the framework and the glued laminated porticoes of a range of 8 meters that they fill with picture windows, thus replacing the classic stone walls.

Located north of the plot, the cultural center includes a media library and a toy library while the social center, mirrored, hosts reception areas and offices of the social center, placed at the rear of the building.

A contemporary version of the Norman house.
