As part of the major EuroRennes urban planning project launched in 2008, the architecture agency Jean-Paul Viguier et Associés signs Identity One, an HQE building, which opens the ball of a set of three buildings called Identity. Delivered in April 2019, the building has welcomed its first occupants and foreshadows the advent of the future business district of Rennes Métropole (35). Discover the first episode of this architectural soap opera.
Located along the railway tracks, Identity One is like a monumental geode exploded into three angular vessels dressed in a double skin of anodized aluminum. It is a mesh exoskeleton that defines the different volumes, the two-strip blades used to protect the offices from the sun's rays. Almost aerial, the facade sets the tone, from the platform of the LGV station, of what characterizes the entire building: simplicity, flexibility and light.
Of the 9 square meters in this 000-storey building, 8 square meters are for offices, 6 square meters for cinemas, 000 square meters for shops and restaurants. On the upper levels, several passageways and terraces precede a double height plateau. A mixed program that meets the objective of the Giboire real estate group, in charge of project management, to enhance the southern part of the Breton city.
Inside, it's about opening up spaces, maximizing natural light and directing your gaze towards the city. The offices, divided into divisible areas, are open-plan, bright and spacious, while the arthouse cinema Arvor - the oldest associative cinema in Rennes - has five rooms, which can accommodate up to 304 people, and a the large terrace, which offers moviegoers a breathtaking view of the city center. To this is added the restaurant terrace on the ground floor which connects Identity One to the city.
After Identity One, the Identity Two and Identity Three buildings will emerge from the ground by the end of 2020. The Identity triptych will then represent a pole of 20 square meters in the center of the new business district.
