It is for the Horst Festival which is held every year in Vilvoorde, in Belgium, that the Swiss firm, Leopold Banchini Architects imagined Moon Ra, a vernacular structure that blends perfectly into the landscape...

The immersive festival that mixes arts, music and architecture is located in an exceptional place, and offers, with each new edition, an impressive program... For its 8th performance (scheduled from April 29 to May 1, 2022), the cream of the electronic music should still be present and offer more than 100 artists from all walks of life...

It is for this event, which has become unmissable, that Leopold Banchini Architects imagined, Moon Ra, a cabin built to "dance around the fire". The large circular roof embraces festival-goers, while its interior has been designed to offer temporary shelter to the most surprising festival-goers...

Around the foyer, the absence of a dance floor gives free rein to rhythmic creativity and invites them to take off their shoes for direct contact with the floor. At its top, the hut opens up to the moon, sending mysterious smoke signals to nearby hyperboloid chimneys.

To build this work, the Feathers scene from Fala Atelier (2019) was dismantled and reassembled. Each element of the previous dance floor thus takes on a new function…

A pavilion, entirely built by design students during a workshop…
