In Salerno, the design of the new airport is being developed according to an overall vision: the intervention is carried out in synergy with the landscape and the surrounding context, both weakened and tormented by the massive presence of the agricultural industry, but also bear great potential thanks to a central geographical location in the Mediterranean.
The winning project of Atelier(s) Alfonso Femia is based on two principles: displaying a strong identity while meeting the requirements of modularity, environmental performance and guaranteeing the possibility of future extension.
Atelier(s) Alfonso Femia has designed a modern and functional infrastructure, perfectly consistent with the landscape, the identity, the environment and the experience of the territory. The founding act of this proposal lies in the atmosphere of the place, an atmosphere closely linked to the name of the airport itself: “Costa d'Amalfi”.
This new airport is part of the journey and the discovery of the territory for each passenger. It connects the Amalfi Coast to the rest of the world.
The project was born from the study of the different scenarios offered by the surrounding contemporary territory. Looking towards the built and natural horizon stretching from the city of Naples to the borders of the regions of Campania and Basilicata, Atelier(s) Alfonso Femia set out to discover a rich and lively site.
