NORWAY is the starting point of the city of Caen's desire to develop the vast territory called Grand presqu'île. Located next to the marina and close to the sea, this site with an industrial past was a must in the port activities of the city.

Signed by the VIB architecture agency, the NORWAY building intelligently underlines the architectural trend which aims to create urban areas where life is good, while offering shopping areas and office space. As the architect Franck VIALET points out, “For there to be life, there has to be a kind of complementarity, a mix. One of the attractions of this site is its proximity to the city center; you can get there on foot or by bike. But the idea was also to bring life back with the establishment of shops on the ground floor of the building and a few office spaces on the 1st floor. It was not necessary to compartmentalize, on the contrary, it was necessary to create poles with diversity”.

To meet this requirement, the 8-storey real estate program is structured around 78 top-of-the-range apartments combining social housing, home ownership and a base integrating 8 shops, 200m2 of office space and a parking area underneath. -floor.

This emblematic structure, which reflects the stated desire to give a new face to the city of Caen, features an architecture reminiscent of that of a boat, like the liner “France” which was renamed “NORWAY” in 1979. By design, NORWAY sets a standard. There is of course an economic reality, but it is a generous building by its design, its position, its uses and the apartments it offers.
