The Dutch architect Koen Olthuis of Waterstudio envisioned a housing complex to deal with the rising waters in the Netherlands. End of construction in December 2010.

Exit dikes and other highly technical, the architect simply proposes to build housing complexes floating on lakes, water levels can fluctuate without threatening homes.

This concept called "The Citadel" is a set of prefabricated housing with terraces with parking and floating access road.

Using water to regulate the temperature inside the complex, energy consumption should be reduced by 25% compared to an equivalent building on land.
