Événement : While We Wait

Produced by the OMA agency, the concrete building of Alserkal Avenue in Dubai (United Arab Emirates), hosts until November 18 immersive installation: While We Wait. Designed by Palestinian architects and designers Elias and Yousef Anastas, this sculptural and audiovisual work pays tribute to their homeland.

Inspired by the Cremisan Valley where the dividing wall between Israel and Palestine is built, the installation While We Wait is composed of pieces of stone from various regions of the duo's home country, assembled into a self-supporting pyramidal structure with a porous and honeycombed appearance.

Representing the fragile links that unite Palestine to its history, the book is accompanied by video projections that reflect the particular climate that reigns in this region. Far from directly denouncing the Israeli-Palestinian conflict or the unique geo-political situation that this territory occupies on the world stage, the work acts as an ode to the landscapes, the mix of cultures and religions that make the identity of a homeland.

The project, commissioned by the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, an institution specializing in sculpture and decorative arts, was also presented at the last London Design Week and is expected to be permanently installed in the Cremisan Valley.

A poetic way to make the world aware of the history of Palestine.

While We Wait, until 18 November 2018 at Concrete (UAE).
