Mixing photography, architecture and anthropology, the cycle of exhibitions and conferences PHOTOVILLE is the new original programming of The Gallery, space inaugurated by the CAUE92 in Nanterre (92). A way out of the Parisian snail without swapping his Navigo pass for a plane ticket.

What is the common point between La Défense (92), Algiers (Algeria), Fukushima (Japan) and Port-au-Prince (Haiti)? Each of its cities is the subject of a cycle to discover at La Galerie until March 8. Through series of shots showing different aspects of these metropolises, the viewer is invited to reflect on broad themes: urbanism, architecture, politics, etc. An entertaining way to be interested in the countries of the world, which we do not always know as well as we think.

Entitled "Defense, the City and Utopia", the first meeting combines Baltic photographer Alnis Stalke and architecture historian Simon Texier to help us discover the Capital business district, under a whole new look . Moderated by Jordi Ballesta - geographer, researcher and also photographer - discussions will feed the visual journey proposed by Stalke and question the notions of space in this particular area of the Paris region.

"The work of Alnis focuses on the uses and circulation of defense, but his artistic positioning is also to show details of everyday life that escape the large scale of the territory and bring out the unexpected. " Jordi Ballesta, moderator of PHOTOVILLE

If you missed this first event, do not worry, since other appointments of this kind are to be expected. As early as the February 8, it is Algiers la blanche which is put in the spotlight in "Algiers, the overflowing city", then Fukushima, Japanese complex territory that La Galerie invites us to discover the February 22 in "Fukushima, the city in Danger ". Finally, Port-au-Prince will close this rich program 08 March in a cycle entitled "Port-au-Prince, the urgent city."

A three-month world tour that promises to surprise many.
