Événement : Domestic pools

Until the 18 next March, the swimming pool, essential element of our summers, sign of wealth but also of well-being, is put in the spotlight at the Villa Noailles de Hyères (83) in a photographic route. From Adolf Loos to Philippe Rahm, return to this element that has always fascinated its users as its designers.

After presenting the exhibitions "Landskating" and "The Nightclub", Villa Noailles, contemporary art center located in Hyères, continues its exploration of architectural singularities, with the theme of the pool.

Entitled "Domestic Pool", the event retraces through numerous photographic reports various bathing devices from their appearance in twentieth-century bourgeois homes to the most contemporary experiments. If he presents exceptional works, he also endeavors to show their advent in more modest homes thanks to technical and industrial innovations.

Among the projects highlighted by the commissioners of the exhibition Benjamin Lafore, Sébastien Martinez-Barat and Audrey Teichmann, is the basin of the Villa Noailles itself, built by the architect of Robert Mallet-Stevens places in 1924, but also that of the summer residence of Alain Capeillères, conceived at Six-Fours-les-Plages (83) at the beginning of the 1970 years. A masterpiece of 25 Var meters long unknown, dug into the mountainside, revealed in 1976 by a famous photograph of Martine Franck, in which the silhouettes are lounging at the edge of the water, on the white surface and squared of the terrace.

More contemporary, the achievements of the architects Didier Faustino, Andreas Angelidakis, Richard England, and especially Philippe Rahm who develops a work focused on what he calls the "physiology contextuality" - a study of the effects of light and water on the human metabolism.

A nice way to dazzle different facets of this luxurious object of desire.
