Ludwig Favre : Colorful University

Designed in 2009 by PERRIPHÉRIQUES Architects agency, the Pierre and Marie Curie University atrium on the Jussieu campus in Paris (5e) is an ode to color. Far from the caricatural vision of austere scientific premises, the establishment trains tomorrow's doctors in a pop box that also attracts the eye of photographers, like Ludwig Favre and his collection. Colorful University.

After having taken an interest in the amphitheatres of the Sorbonne, the young photographer returns to the university benches to capture this time the pastel palette of the Jussieu campus atrium.

We discover then, piercing the walls of concrete, openings with rounded edges revealing the bright tones of each floor. Similar to small pills recalling the medical context in which the clichés were made, these revisited banner windows are superimposed and accumulate in the clichés, to free themselves from their original situation, until becoming almost abstract .

"The unique design of this building makes it the ideal playground for an urban photographer like me. " Ludwig Favre, photographer

The shots are diverse: sometimes centered on a monochromatic space; sometimes wider, thus showing the extent of the nuances used in this almost futuristic setting, which one would not imagine to be that of a Parisian faculty. It all forms a most aesthetic ensemble, portraying the brilliance of the corridors leading students to a bright future.

A captivating series that shows once again the unwavering link between architecture and photography.
