Événement : Passages insolites

Until October 14, discover the event Passages Insolites in Quebec City (Canada). A stroll through the public space composed of nine works of art, just as ephemeral as singular. Sometimes playful, sometimes introspective, these works are arranged in the heart of historical architectures to offer a current reinterpretation of the urban spaces they inhabit.

Designed by the non-profit organization EXMURO public arts, with the support of the City of Quebec, Passages Insolites is the largest public art event in Quebec. From the Palais train station to the Petit Champlain district, day and night, stroll through this part of the city, meeting nine atypical works that brighten up its public spaces. Live an inclusive experience at the heart of architectural creations from Quebec and Canada.

Among the achievements exhibited, The pillars of post-postmodernism LEGAGA, in collaboration with the Association of Architecture Students at Laval University, mix vertical two-tone pipes with a tree alignment. They invite to imagine the city if the engineers did the art, the architects of the engineering and the artists of the architecture. The project is the 2018 winner of the Passages Insolites contest.
Further, Lark by Brandon Vickerd, consists of a replica of the first Canadian artificial satellite of the same name, launched in 1962 at the height of space development. Now crushed on a car, this one recalls the failed promise of a better future announced by modernity. He could also represent a current Icarus whose blind faith in technology would lead him to his own fall.
In parallel, Collectif 5 presents The bowels of the future : large sections of sober walls pierced which delimit a singular ambulatory space. Orthonormal openings are created by producing filaments reminiscent of tense muscles. This urban coin represents, in a metaphorical way, the possible avenues for a future fraught with uncertainties and tensions.

In Quebec City, art lovers have only to follow the path marked by these works!
