The Espace Monte-Cristo is celebrating its fifth year of opening to the public. On the occasion of this anniversary, the Parisian location of the Villa Datris Foundation, presents from April 9 to December 11, 2022, an exhibition that reveals the heart of its Collection by bringing together more than 35 sculptures by French and international artists.

Combining historical and scientific references, this route retraces the kinetic epic, beginning with the Le Mouvement exhibition. It is represented only by male artists but initiated and supported by Denise René, the high priestess of abstraction.

The rest of the exhibition invites the visitor to unravel the mysteries of an optical illusion, to play in space in search of the best angle of view and to contemplate the hidden mechanisms of perpetual motion.

As part of the Carte Blanche entrusted to him, Manuel Mérida has created two monumental works, one of which is more than 8 meters high outside.

Drawing on the concepts of kinetic art from the 60s, he introduces movement into his works – sometimes motorized, sometimes manipulable – in order to highlight the quality of matter and its behavior.

An exhibition to discover until December 11 at the Espace Monte-Cristo.
