IKEA : Make a room for…

On the occasion of Paris Design Week, the Swedish giant installed a temporary showroom in the Galerie Joseph-Minimes in Paris (3e). To further demonstrate the range of possibilities offered by its furniture in kit, the brand invited artists and designers to imagine various arrangements and immersive courses.

On a surface of 300 square meters spread over two levels, IKEA presents different installations illustrating all the potential offered by its collections, in particular Ypperlig. These staged performances, grouped under the banner Make a room for ..., allow visitors to project themselves and visualize the furniture in an inhabited space.

The first exhibition area is on the ground floor of the Joesph-Minimes Gallery. Divided into three parts, it brings together the projects of an artist and two studios of design. Welcome in Make a room for Art! The plastic artist Cécile Chaput reappropriates Scandinavian furniture in a destructured and geometric interior in which the elements of the mark become sculptures, both aesthetic and functional. The Atelier de design Hapax, a specialist in the diversion of everyday objects, reuses a hundred wooden hangers - a classic of the firm - to create a modular and contemporary screen. For its part, the agency Désormeaux / Carrette, based in Paris, calls on our childhood soul and develops a playful project focused on the world of video games by transforming elements of the sign - like a table or a classic office chair -, in a control station taking the form of a bolide!

In the basement, the visitor finds himself in Make a room for life, dedicated to the layout of the show. To discover the creations destined for this main room of life, IKEA proposes a maze of living rooms, each offering a singular atmosphere. We then move from a tropical atmosphere to a festive decor, all highlighting the new products of the firm.

Finally, the highlight of the show is the presentation of the collection Ypperlig, produced in collaboration with the Danish design studio HAY. Exposed to the first floor, Make a room for YPPERLIG is a synthesis of Scandinavian know-how, composed of about fifty pieces with purified shapes.

An array of possibilities offered by IKEA products shown here in original scenographies, which made the success of the brand in the blue bag!
