IKEA : Collection Art Event 2019

It's been five years since the Swedish furniture brand IKEA teamed up with contemporary artists to imbue its collections with the soul of designers. Considered as a way to democratize contemporary art, the collection allows eight designers to offer themselves a place in all interiors. Between vanguard and pop culture, here is a nice nod to contemporary art lovers.

A rug is a real financial and aesthetic investment. More than a functional object, it offers, under the benevolence of the publishing houses, an added value to the interiors, giving them allure and comfort. The IKEA firm has decided to make these traditional decorative objects a field of artistic exploration led by eight international artists. A business of arts!
With Art Event 2018, the limited edition collection offers a chance for all budgets to appropriate symbolic objects that will give a character to the walls and floors.

"Whether you stomp or hang them on a wall, these rugs will become exclamation marks in the house! " Henrik Most, Creative Director IKEA

Virgil Abloh, an architect by training, a New Yorker designer, revisits the Persian carpets through 5 models when the American duo Chiaozza revisits the spring scenes of the American deserts that rocked their childhood. Craig Green, London fashion designer, offers aesthetics from popular culture and the manga universe, while Misaki Kawai, from Japan, is inspired by animals in his zany creation. The misshapen carpets also have their place in this collection: Noah Lyon, with his creation illustrated in black and white, and Supakitch, a French artist broken from the world of tattooing. Finally, Seulgi Lee (Korea) and Filip Pagowski (Poland) favor minimalist but equally marked forms.

A limited edition world tour.
