Sanna Völker : Snug

Snug candle holders designed by Swedish designer Sanna Völker celebrate craftsmanship and the relationship to the material. A small project full of ambition made by hand from the remains of natural stone, some dating from about 500 million years ago. A journey in the delicate time.

Sanna Völker works between Sweden and Spain and nourishes her creation with these two very different atmospheres. Between candor and exaltation, the candlesticks combine minimalist design and tactile emotion by trapping candles in the history of the material. Snug - understand "comfortable" in French - thus offers a cocoon to light in a simple and reassuring configuration.

"My work is a balance between brutality and refinement" Sanna Völker, designer

Each of 15x3x9's small objects capable of accommodating two elongated candles was developed by artisan stone cutters from Granits Barbany, a house created in 1880 that contributed to the creation of sculptures for the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona (Spain).
Having fun with the textures, the designer offers several finishes, raw or smooth, made possible by the use of different stones such as marble, travertine or limestone.

What illuminate our interiors subtly.
