Nadia Candet : Private Choice 2019

The ephemeral and intimate Private Choice collection gives pride of place to exceptional pieces. For its eighth edition, the exhibition is held in two historic Haussmann apartments and revolves around the theme "Affinities / Affinities". A confidential event that invites you to discover and acquire the latest innovations in art and design.

From 14 to 20 October, the private collection designed by Nadia Candet, founder of Private Choice, presents a unique selection of works of art and design objects. From the American artist Larry Bell to the young French designer Arthur Hoffner, it is a true immersion in international contemporary creation that the event proposes to us.

The route of the exhibition is organized according to the layout of the two apartments located near the Grand Palais, where the International Fair of Contemporary Art takes place in parallel. The gallery conceives for the first time a journey in two spaces with distinct atmospheres. Real « white cube "The apartment that opens the exhibition has a clean aesthetic and a minimalist layout, while the second offers a more loaded decor to extravagance assumed.

On the second floor, a large Haussmanian salon becomes the setting for protean works: creations by the Serbian artist Vladimir Veličković, poetic sculptures by the French designer Agnès Debizet and vases by the French-Russian designer Alissa Volchkova. Similarly, the small salon mixes genres. Here, the famous Vapor Drawings by Larry Bell rub shoulders with Julien Lagueste's organic tables.

The scenography is also punctuated by original contemporary installations, from Eric Michel's neon Dreamland to Assi Joseph Meidan's lighting, to Michael Zelehoski's heterogeneous compositions.
Throughout his walk, the visitor is invited to contemplate essential pieces of design. A ceremonial fountain by Arthur Hoffner, Murano glass bead lamps by Jean-Michel Othoniel, or the minimalist marble coffee table by SMENT, to name but a few.

The novelty of the 2019 edition is the layout of a children's room where childhood objects and surreal creations meet. In particular, there is the innovative Argo cradle made of walnut and copper. Resulting from the collaboration between the design studio Noir Vif and the cabinetmaking workshop Ludwig & Dominique, this birthbed was recently awarded the Liliane Bettencourt Dialogues Prize for its insulation against electromagnetic waves. At her side, Brankica Zilović's embroidered books and Amélie Barnathan's dreamlike drawings give the room an unusual feeling of strangeness.

This appointment offers an intimate journey on the fringes of the effervescence of the FIAC.
