Événement : COLLECTIBLE 2020

From 5 to 8 March 2020, Brussels will host for the third consecutive year the international fair dedicated to contemporary design: COLLECTIBLE. By founding this event, the two art consultants, Clélie Debehault and Liv Vaisberg, made the Belgian capital a Mecca of design, one of the great, alongside Miami, Milan, London or Paris. Zoom on a young fair that is growing.

In 2020, the fair will once again take place in the spectacular Espace Vanderborght and will exhibit for four days the innovations of contemporary collective design in this modernist building of 6 square meters. COLLECTIBLE presents, on the occasion of its third edition, 000 countries and more than one hundred international exhibitors: emerging or established galleries, design studios and young people, as well as recognized exhibition curators, institutions or foundations internationally, who have developed unique curatorial projects for the occasion.

What is special about COLLECTIBLE? Unlike other design fairs, COLLECTIBLE presents only XNUMXst century pieces, in a unique or limited edition, selected this year by a committee made up of professionals from the design world, notably Brent Dzekciorius, founder of Dzek in London, Olivier Gabet, director of MAD - Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, Alexis Georgacopoulos, director of the École Cantonale d'Art de Lausanne (ECAL), Annalisa Rosso, editor-in-chief of the magazine Icon Design, and Dieter Vander Velpen, founder of Dieter Vander Velpen Architects in Antwerp.

During this third edition, the event stands out once again from other fairs of the same type by offering great visibility to emerging talents. Under the curation of Brent Dzekciorius, the CURATED SECTION exhibits more than thirty independent international designers and design studios in a scenography space signed Döppel. The “Teşekkül” objects made of mycelium of mushrooms and natural materials by the Istanbul-based designer Dahlia Subasi and the colorful furniture made from industrial waste by the British designer Charlotte Kidger particularly attracted our attention, as they bear witness to both recent development eco-design and the desire of the fair to give a voice to these creators who think the design of tomorrow by carrying out an active reflection on the place of the ecological conscience of designers in contemporary creation.

The brand new ESPOKE section showcases established designers and studios. The exhibitors of this space unveil pieces of art and design produced under exceptional orders. Among them are Isabelle de Borchgrave (Belgium), Llewelyn Chupin (France), Studio Erik Olovsson (Sweden), Emilianova Studio (Rome) and Nadja Zerunian (Austria).

On the occasion of COLLECTIBLE, Lionel Jadot's creative nursery - the Zaventem Ateliers - presents the latest pieces produced by residents and organizes an evening on Saturday March 7 in its premises, while the ELEVEN STEENS gallery offers to discover the work of designer Johan Viladrich in a monographic exhibition.

Despite its youth, COLLECTIBLE has been propelled to the forefront of the international scene in just three years and is today one of the essential design meetings.

A recent and daring fair, but already unmissable!
